#RealBridesRealCurves: Heather & Pedro’s Maryland Barbecue Wedding

We are so excited to share this wedding with you guys! Heather and Pedro’s unique nuptials were held at the Tea Barn at Fair Hill in Elkton, MD. You can really tell how in love they are just look at their photos! Heather came to see us about a year before her wedding, and worked with Shannon.

“I loved working with you guys I’m a “tomboy” type who hates clothes shopping, doesn’t wear dresses, and mostly buys cheap clothes to wear, but like many people having a more traditional style wedding, I wanted something special to wear – so, although I was pretty uncomfortable going in, by the time I came out of the shop I felt confident and happy. I thought I knew what I wanted, and Shannon found it for me right away however, I wanted to make sure it was “the one” so I agreed to try on more dresses.”

We hear stories like this all the time from our #CurvyBrides. Everyone knows how frustrating it can be to be a fullfigured bride searching for THE DRESS in a sea of tiny samples. But have no fear, ladies! Curvaceous Couture is here to help you find the right dress. Just take it from Heather!

I tend to feel frumpy and like an imposter whenever I try on dresses, but Curvaceous Couture’s staff made me feel much more at ease and confident than I thought possible. No matter how frazzled I was (like dropping in without an appointment that first time, having no idea what to expect and not even having an idea of what I was looking to spend), I was always treated wonderfully by every single member of the staff. and I loved my dress!“
Heather chose a stunning Allure satin ballgown with a ruched bodice and beaded waist detail.

We are so passionate about weddings here at Curvaceous Couture. We know many local vendors who we’ve worked with or met at wedding events, and are happy to send a referral when the opportunity presents itself. We recommended the makeup artist from our upcoming TLC show “Curvy Brides” to Heather for her hair and makeup on the big day.

The rustic details of this wedding are to die for.

“Our flowers were done by Bouquets By Bell, a wonderful duo that works from home. I gave them general ideas and a few containers I wanted them to use (including some deliberately rough-hewn boxes made by my parents) and they magically made it happen.”

The Beautiful photos of this wedding were taken by the incredibly talented Amber Wilkie. The bride said that they had such a good time with her, and that she made sure to keep them focused on having fun rather than posing for the camera.

The printed fabric wands are such a great retro detail.

The Couple had many of the popular wedding entertainments, including a photo booth and a candy buffet. Instead of rice or birdseed, Heather and Pedro were sent off with wands and paper airplanes made from maps. Our favorite detail has got to be the custom coloring pages for the kids! Each coloring page was done by a different artist fromFiverr, including artists who go by the usernames reveur and pynkuu.
